Our Principal Designers

 Roger Harned founded RHD over 20 years ago in San Francisco, CA. He is a
graduate of Indiana University and the University of Minnesota (Ph.D.). He also
has lived and studied design in Paris. Roger has taught Interior Design at the
University of California Berkeley Extension in San Francisco, and has designed
rooms for the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. Roger is an Allied member of
the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

 RHD has completed projects in the San
Francisco Bay Area, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Sonoma County, Los Gatos, Lake
Tahoe, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Boston, New York, Rhode Island, Oregon,
Dallas, Snowmass, Colorado.

 Sven Hoffmann is a retired chef from Hamburg, Germany, and has been designing our kitchens for 10 years. See examples of his work in the "kitchens" section.

Our process consists of some or all of the following:
Physical examination of the spaces to be designed, of the architecture, and plans.
Exploration of client vision and lifestyle.
Establish the aesthetic objective, the project timeline and budget.
Conceptual space planning and furniture layouts.
Elevations as needed, design of built-ins.
Selection of colors, fabrics, furnishings.
Custom furniture design
Selection of interior finishes if needed
Lighting design.

Selection of antiques, art, if needed

Design presentations, changes

Costing of selections, budget revisions

Design implementation:

      Purchase orders and tracking of orders
      Follow up, accessorizing, further selections
      Supervision of craftsmen, including painters, 
      paper hangers, etc. 
      Delivery and installation
